Thrilling New Series Trailer for The 100 by Kass Morgan

In case you haven’t heard of this thrilling book coming from Little Brown and Alloy Entertainment, now you have no excuse. The 100 by Kass Morgan is an exciting new sci-fi epic that is not only coming to a bookstore near you this September, but also to The CW in a brand new series! Currently in development for Fall 2013, The 100 is an exciting new series in which one hundred teens take an epic journey from outer space to an Earth that was abandoned long ago.

In the future, humans live in city-like spaceships orbiting far above Earth’s toxic atmosphere. No one knows when, or even if, the long-abandoned planet will be habitable again. But faced with dwindling resources and a growing populace, government leaders know they must reclaim their homeland… before it’s too late.

Now, one hundred juvenile delinquents are being sent on a high-stakes mission to recolonize Earth. After a brutal crash landing, the teens arrive on a savagely beautiful planet they’ve only seen from space. Confronting the dangers of this rugged new world, they struggle to form a tentative community. But they’re haunted by their past and uncertain about the future. To survive, they must learn to trust – and even love – again.

How awesome does this show sound? I, for one, absolutely cannot wait to see it! For those wanting to read the book as well, it releases in stores everywhere on September 3rd. But stay tuned here on the site, we will be giving a copy away to one of our readers before then!

The CW Kills The Selection Pilot

selectionIt must be the week of rejected young adult adaptation tv pilots or something. With Fox not picking up the Delirium pilot earlier this week and now the CW giving The Selection its final blow to the head after attempting to resuscitate it by shooting a brand new pilot with a new cast and better locations, it seems even they couldn’t make it as good as it should be for viewers to tune in.

Deadline reported the execution:

After two development cycles and two pilots, the CW is throwing in the towel on bringing Keira Cass’ book The Selection to the small screen. By all accounts, the second pilot, which was shot in Budapest, was an improvement over last year’s effort. But in the end I hear the finished product, while beautifully shot, was not compelling enough to get on the schedule.

For fans of the series, it’s sad news. This series has a pretty good following and the CW could have benefited from it being on their roster. Here’s to hoping the next few books they optioned have winning scripts and a solid pilot to rocket their way onto our tv screens soon.

The Selection is based on a young adult series by Kiera Cass. The Elite, sequel to The Selection was released on April 23.

Fox Officially Rejected Delirium Pilot

Fox has officially rejected the Delirium television pilot, which if picked up would’ve been on this fall.

As unfortunate as it seems, it looks like major networks aren’t taking the bait on young adult adaptations for television. None of them are willing to throw enough money at a series in hopes of it becoming a franchise success like the Vampire Diaries. Even the CW rejected the first pilot for The Selection based on the young adult series by Kiera Cass.

It’s unclear why Fox rejected it at this time, but we got the confirmation from actor Gregg Sulkin on twitter that it was officially canned:

Also tweeting out a message shortly afterwards through his WhoSay:

May 8, 2013: Here is a message to all my fans

Unfortunately, it’s official that Delirium did NOT get picked up by FOX.

Firstly, and I am sure I speak on behalf of all the cast, I would like to thank everyone for their support over the past few weeks. Never have I experienced, or seen anything like that in my life. Your support for the show has simply been sensational. I am very humbled and grateful.

The cast, producers, crew are as devastated as you are. We were all extremely passionate about this project, and was looking forward to working with each other on a regular basis. It wasn’t meant to be.

However, as they say, as one door closes, another opens, and I hope you guys continue to stay on this journey with me.
Of course, I would have loved the show to get on the air, but lets continue now to kick on, as a team, and I hope I can continue to make you guys proud in the future.

All the best,
Gregg x

Maybe with enough of an outcry from fans, Fox will rethink the pilot and approve a re-shoot/re-edit like the CW did with The Selection in hopes of a better result the second time. But for now all we can do is mourn the loss of what would’ve been a great new tv series.

The Delirium pilot starred Emma Roberts, Gregg Sulkin, Daren Kagasoff, and Jeanine Mason and was based on a young adult series of the same name by Lauren Oliver.
