The School for Good and Evil Acquired by Universal

If you haven't heard of the utterly fantastic book The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani, you have no excuse now. Put this book on your radar.

Joe Roth and Palek Patel, who produced Snow White and the Huntsman, are producing the film along with Jane Startz. Chainani will write the screenplay with Malia Scotch-Marmo, who wrote the screenplay for Hook.

I think Joe Roth is the perfect fit for this project having previously produced Oz the Great and Powerful, Snow White and the Huntsman, and Alice in Wonderland. Even Jane Startz, who has produced such films as Ella Enchanted and Tuck Everlasting. Combined, they've worked on some of the best works of children's fiction adapted in the last decade so I cannot wait to see their take on this one!
