There are fandoms and then there are FANDOMS and the Mortal Instruments fans have made this franchise almost as big as The Hunger Games. The closer we get to the release of City of Bones, the more excited fans are getting. Including me.
So when news broke that Sony went ahead and green lit its sequel City of Ashes to begin pre-production, I was dead.
The Mortal Instruments producer Martin Moszkowicz revealed the exciting City of Ashes movie news on Twitter and confirmed that City of Bones lead stars Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell-Bower are definitely returning for the sequel. Director Harald Zwart is also set to return.

There is no word on whether the rest of the cast is signed on as well, but I assume with the success that this franchise is bound to be that they will all be returning for the sequel.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opens in theaters this August.
With as much hype surrounding City of Bones, it's no wonder why Sony is already planning ahead for City of Ashes. Personally, I am most excited for City of Glass since that is my favorite in the series.
And in case you missed it earlier today, Summit gave a green light to the Insurgent film, the sequel to Divergent based on the young adult series by Veronica Roth.
Are there any Mortal Instruments fans out there? Are you more excited to see City of Bones or City of Ashes? Let us know!
