It's no secret that I am unabashedly unashamedly a HUGE love of Victoria Schwab's novels. Her latest, The Archived, especially. It's eloquence and beauty outshines a lot of typical YA books while giving a deep sense of self-hope and strength. I can't say anything but GRAND things for this book and I want everyone to read it!
Victoria has been teasing for about a month now that Disney/Hyperion, her publisher, has given her the go ahead to share the title and cover for Book 2 in The Archived series and she finally did that yesterday! Well, part of it. And at the end of the post, we've got a special interview with Victoria about her reaction and thoughts on the cover!
Over on her blog (link), she finally revealed the title. THE UNBOUND.
Ahh, I LOVE it! And I love that they kept the theme too. Very vintage. And the colors are perfect!
Though no word on the summary yet (I think they'll keep that one locked up until a bit closer to release), the cover was just released on Young Adult Book Central (YABC for short) today!
Here's a sneak peek but you'll have to jump over to YABC for the full cover spread!
DUDE! Just how awesome is that cover?! If you want to see the whole cover and read the summary, head on over to YABC's post to see it! They've also got a giveaway for The Archived going that you don't want to miss!
And we've got a special little extra bit from Victoria Schwab! Read her reaction to the cover below!
First reaction to seeing the cover?
I loved it. I'm a HUGE fan of covers in a series pairing well together, and adore the visual continuity between THE ARCHIVED and THE UNBOUND. I also love that we've traded the halls of the Narrows for the gates of Hyde, the high school in Book 2. And the ring! I'm thrilled we get to see an Archive ring, and even more thrilled that Hyperion is giving it to me when they're done! I'll be able to add it to the key from the cover of Book 1 :)))
Do you have a favorite part?
The color palette. I loved the blue and gold of THE ARCHIVED so much, and was worried they wouldn't be able to match it, but they totally did with THE UNBOUND's green and silver.
How well do you feel it relates to the continuation of the story?
SO. WELL. I can't say much, but both the ring and the school in the background are HUGELY important to THE UNBOUND. Also the school itself is echoed on the back cover the way the CORONADO is on the reverse of THE ARCHIVED. So much win.
Describe the cover in three words.
Troubled. Spooky. Lush.
I am the product of a British mother, a Beverly Hills father, and a southern upbringing. Because of this, I have been known to say “tom-ah-toes”, “like”, and “y’all”. I also suffer from a wicked case of wanderlust, made worse by the fact that wandering is a good way to stir up stories. When I’m not haunting Paris streets or trudging up English hillsides, I’m usually tucked in the corner of a coffee shop, dreaming up monsters.

Big thanks to Victoria for taking a moment to answer these questions and letting us see what she thinks of the cover!
