Jeremy's Best of 2012

This year has been a crazy one filled with lots of exciting book signings, events, and more. On top of that, there were some awesome books that released for every reader! I wish I could go into detail about how much I loved the books I read this year, but that would get a bit excessive and no one would want to read that!

In total, I read a little over 60 books this year. I wish I could have read more but sadly time didn't permit it because of working so much and being in school as well. But what I did read, I loved and I've compiled the top 12 books I read this year!

Best Books of 2012

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Oh, this book. I think this book will be on nearly everyone's best list because oh the feels it gives. I have never felt so much for characters in a book before. I cannot recommend it enough to every reader.

Every Day by David Levithan

David Levithan knows how to write a seriously beautiful book that will not only rock my world but make heart swell and emotions build. An emotionally compelling love story not bound by gender.

Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

The final book in the Beautiful Creatures series was intense and amazing. I just love this series to death and it was sad to come to an end but soon we'll have the movie so not all is bad!

A Million Suns by Beth Revis

Ah, this series. I can't say anything but good about it. There is a major lacking of Sci-Fi in YA fiction but this series is by far my favorite Sci-Fi, if not one of my fave series ever. The characters, the crazy action, the mystery, etc. So much greatness.

Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan

Now I don't read many adult fiction books but after seeing this one in my local bookstore, I had to pick it up. The cover is stunning (even glows in the dark) and the story sounded intriguing. I mean, a bookstore that is open 24/7 with some crazy weird customers...awesome story.

Timepiece by Myra McEntire

I love you, Myra McEntire. So dearly. With my love for Doctor Who and Harry Potter surrounding this series, it's no wonder I love it so much. This second book in the series makes me wish I could time travel and see things no one else sees. I need Infinityglass now.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Okay, so I know fairy tale retellings are a big thing now but this series is a cut above the rest. I mean, first of all, it's sci-fi and futuristic. So of course I'm already all for it. This retelling of Cinderella launches the four book series and I seriously devoured it!

False Memory by Dan Krokos

Dan Krokos, marry me. This book is non-stop action from start to finish and I love it so much. Now, I just need False Sight.

Ten by Gretchen McNeil

I love Gretchen McNeil's writing so much. And Ten was so fantastic. Literally ate it up in one sitting which kept me up all night. If you like "killer on the loose" action, don't miss this one!

Rift by Andrea Cremer

Before this year, I hadn't read any of Andrea's books then one week I said "I'm gonna do it." So in one week, I read all three in the Nightshade series then listened to the audiobook for Rift which was the best. The reader was Scottish and the accent was perfect for the story. Such an awesome historical book!

Carnival of Souls by Melissa Marr

I have to be honest and say that, before this one, I have never read any of Marr's books. I chose to listen to the audiobook for the sole reason being that it was read by James Marsters. AKA SPIKE FROM BUFFY. So yes, I had to listen. And he did a fantastic job. The story was so well written too. Loved it!

Struck by Lightning by Chris Colfer

I decided to pick this one up mainly because it as read by the author, Chris Colfer. I met him at BEA when he was signing for his middle grade book, The Land of Stories. I've been looking forward to this movie since I first heard of it and when I saw that he wrote a book from the screenplay, I had to read it. And I loved it.

Best I've Read for 2013:

The Archived by Victoria Schwab

I am saving my feels for my review to post soon but guys, this book.

Shades of Earth by Beth Revis

This explosive finale to the Across the Universe series ended the series on a killer note. I'm stopping there.

And that's my best books of the year list! I have a feeling next year will come with it's fair share of book love as well and I cannot wait for it to arrive.
