A Closer Look at the Trailer for Beautiful Creatures

A supernatural love story set in the South, Beautiful Creatures tells the tale of two star-crossed lovers: Ethan (Alden Ehrenreich), a young man longing to escape his small town, and Lena (Alice Englert), a mysterious new girl. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. Oscar(R) nominee Richard LaGravenese (The Fisher King, P.S. I Love You) directs from his adaptation of the first novel in the best-selling series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro), newcomer Alice Englert, Academy Award(R) winner Jeremy Irons (Reversal of Fortune) Oscar(R) nominee Viola Davis (The Help, Doubt), Emmy Rossum (TV's Shameless) and Academy Award(R) winner Emma Thompson (Howard's End, Sense and Sensibility).

Yesterday, we showed you the trailer for the Beautiful Creatures movie so if you've yet to see it, this post isn't for you. YET. Go watch it, then come on back! Today, we're gonna give you a scene by scene break down of it with thoughts spread throughout.

*goosebumps* Just look at the title screen.
The gates of Ravenwood Manor. I love the style of the deep South that they put in.
First glimpse of Emma Thompson as Mrs. Lincoln speaking in the church.
Lena in her room.
Emma FREAKING Thompson. She embodies Mrs. Lincoln like no other!
Ethan entering Ravenwood Manor for the first time.
The amount of detail that was put into the outside of the mansion is incredible. Just look at all the Spanish moss on the outside. It's quintessential Southern Gothic.
What could this be? A key? But to where?!
Oh my Amma. Just look at how perfect she is.
The tunnels! Oh, how I love the tunnels. So happy to get a glimpse into them.
Amma using her powers with Macon. Just look at her back! Creepy.
What is this? Ridley being Claimed?
Family dinner.
And finally! The kiss that caused the weather to go ballistic! Also, Florence and the Machine started playing right here and AHH. It made the rest of the trailer so much more intense.
Look at Mrs. Lincoln leading this mob against Lena! She's shouting quotes from the Bible!
Jeremy Irons IS Macon Ravenwood.
My favorite scene from the entire trailer. The spinning table, Ridley flying out the window, etc. It couldn't have been better.
Oh, the Civil War reenactment scene. I cannot wait to see how this ends on the big screen.

Overall, I am so very pleased with the way this trailer turned out and I cannot wait to see the film in theaters on February 13th.

I just LOVE that Emma Thompson is in it. She is such an incredible actress, and I am even more excited about the film after learning that she is in it.

  3. Can we move the movie up to February 11th in honor of Lena's birthday? Can't wait for this movie!
