The Academy Awards Aftermath

As you guys very well know, last night was the 83rd Academy Awards (aka the Oscars) and Twitter was buzzing from everything that was going on! Normally I don't talk about my film/media side here on the blog since this is primarily a Young Adult book blog but since much of the films had relation with books (and Harry Potter included!) I figured it wouldn't hurt to do one post on it.

I'm a huge fan of award shows and this time of year is always my favorite as I stalk anything to do with film! And last night's show was definitely the best! The Oscars is known for being the biggest and best as well as nearly shutting down a huge part of LA. From now on, all the winners will be known as "Academy Award winner ________" and that's a true prize!

The book-to-movie films nominated this year were True Grit by Charles Portis, The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook... by Ben Mezrich (The Social Network), Between A Rock and A Hard Place by Aron Ralston (127 Hours), Winter's Bone by Daniel Woodrell, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling (Part 1).

Also, the creative people behind the Oscars put together a funny remix/mash-up "music video" from pieces of Harry Potter, Toy Story 3, Social Network, and Eclipse! I've added it below for you to listen to/watch!

I took the time to edit the song myself for those who only want the Harry Potter "Tiny Ball of Light" part and it is now available for download HERE. This is now officially my ringtone. If you want any of the other one's from the video, let me know in the comments and I suppose I could make a couple more. Also, let me know if you download the song from me! I want to know but Mediafire doesn't keep stats.

It was a great night of awards and laughs as well as paying homage to those we lost this past year. And I was extremely happy since my favorite movie of the year, The King's Speech, won Picture of the Year! Colin Firth also won Best Leading Actor! Also, Inception was nominated for 8 awards, and won 4. Overall, it was truly an eventful and exciting night and I was addicted to trying to be the first to tweet the winners (as I livetweet all award shows if you follow me)!

I hope you guys watched as well since it was quite a night but if not, there are easier ways to find out who won in each category. If you don't know who won and want to find out, click HERE for a full list!

  1. I usually love the Oscars--it's my Superbowl! However, didn't really watch this year because I couldn't jump on The King's Speech bandwagon. Really happy about Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and the 4 awards for Inception, though. :)

  2. Ha! I missed the awards but I did look up the video to see what everyone was talking about! It was great. That would be an amazing ringtone!
