Film News Friday

Books have been adapted into movies since the beginning of film, but never have we been as excited to see a book make it to the big screen like these. These three titles account for some of my favorite series and I can't wait to see them in live-action. None of this news is exclusive, but I brought it all together to make it easier for you. Yeah, I know. I think of everything. Enjoy:

City of Bones
Deadline.com just recently announced that Lily Collins would be taking the lead role of Clary Fray in the highly anticipated adaptation of the first book in the Mortal Instruments series, City of Bones. The director set to take on this production is Scott Charles Stewart (known for Legion and Priest, which is set for a 2011 release). The company behind CoB will be Screen Gems, a subsidiary of Sony Pictures.

Beautiful Creatures
According to IMDB, the script is finished. Richard LaGravanese (Academy Award-winning writer of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, P.S. I Love You, and the upcoming adaptation of the book Water for Elephants starring Robert Pattinson) is the writer and director and Erwin Stoff (The Blind Side, I Am Legend, The Matrix) is set to produce BC.

There is no word on casting yet, but with a 2011 release I'm sure we will hear more news about this soon. I'm not one to cast my "fantasy choices" for who should play which character. I will leave that up to the professionals.

You can check out the original articles here (Variety) and here (Entertainment Weekly).

Wicked Lovely
Wicked Lovely, which is set to release in 2012, will be directed by Kimberly Peirce (Stop-Loss, The L Word, Boys Don't Cry) and produced by Peter Billingsley (Four Christmases, Iron Man) and Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers, Couples Retreat, The Break-Up) of Wild West Productions. Filming has already started for this film!

Again there is no word on casting at this time.

I hope this news gets you as excited for these movie releases as it does us.
