Love Sucks is described as the story of Cara Jones, a young woman living in 18th century England who is turned into a vampire. The novel follows Cara over many miles and hundreds of years, from England to the United States, as she struggles to accept her new life and searches for love.
I’m currently in the middle of reading another book (which I’m loving) but when I received this from Lauren I just had to read it! I originally met Lauren through Twitter and we began talking about her debut novella, Love Sucks. I really liked the title and thought it was fitting for a story about vampires. Also, the idea of what the story was about intrigued me. Cara, 22-year old girl turned vampire, wakes up with new found cravings and strengths. She was faster than ever before and could run without losing breath. She had no idea what had happened to her until she turned on her first victim.
The story continues as she travels, meets new people, and falls in love. Cara’s story will take you on a journey of a lifetime (literally). What would you live for if you could live forever? I absolutely loved this short novella. It took only a couple of hours to completely read this story but it captivated me the entire time. I loved the idea of going back to the traditional “English vampire” and seeing the struggles faced with angry mobs and battling to survive mortal danger and immortal thirst. Cara is a typical girl that many can relate to, once you get past the fangs and thirst for blood. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed reading this book and I really cannot wait to share it with the world!
I’m am currently in the process of putting together a blog tour for Lauren Hammond and her book, Love Sucks. If you would like to take part in this awesome journey, please email me using the email listed in the contact information bar to your right. I want to thank Lauren for sending me the ebook of her book to review since there aren’t any published copies available yet. I can’t wait to continue working with Lauren with the sequel, A Sucker for Love.
